Email security

Email security is a broad term for any procedure that allows for protection of email content and accounts against unauthorized access. Email security service providers have a range of ways of doing this. These include strong password policies and access control mechanisms, encryption of emails in transit/in storage in the case of archiving; web application firewalls, spam and virus/malware filtering software.

Email security softwares such as email anti-spam solutions or spam filtering solutions offer protection against phishing and spoofing attacks that use social engineering methods to deceive users into sharing their personal information or installing malware/viruses on their computers by clicking on email attachments.

Email security features also now include protection against ransomware and business email compromise attacks (BEC).
